Decorate with this FALL's Hottest Colors...

Update your decor this fall with
the hottest colors of the season

(ARA) - With the days getting shorter and the temperature dropping, fall is in full swing. That means it's time to put away the patio furniture and spruce up your home with new seasonal items, colors and textures.

Harvest hues
Think that fall is all about traditional browns and oranges? Think again. The color experts at Krylon, the nation's leading spray paint manufacturer, curated a palette called “Indigenous” as part of its 2012 color trends, which includes hues that are perfect for the fall season.

“There is a primal energy to this palette,” says Donna Schroeder, manager of Color + Design at Krylon. “As we look deeper into the forest, our search for connection brings us to an untouched and pure palette of greens and browns that please the environmentalist in us all,” she adds.
This palette includes earthy shades of green, like Hunter, Citrus and Fern; as well as a warm, gray neutral called Pebble, and warm reddish accents, like Burgundy, that are great for seasonal decorating.

Warming indoor accents
Just because Halloween and Thanksgiving are the major holidays in fall, it doesn't mean you should only deck your home with pumpkins, goblins or turkeys. There are plenty of ways to incorporate the look and feel of the season with textures, finishes and accent pieces. As the weather gets cooler, add colorful blankets and throws in different weaves to add interest to your existing furniture. Engage all your senses by incorporating scented candles throughout your home - fall staples like apple, caramel and cinnamon will make every room more warm and inviting.
Don't feel like you need to buy all new decor for the season. Spray paint is a simple and inexpensive way to update existing items you may already have around the house, like candlesticks, a serving tray or picture frames in the new fashionable colors.
Once you have found the items that you want to makeover, lightly sand them to ensure a smooth surface. Next wipe down the surface to remove any dust or debris. Apply even coats of primer and then add the color of your choice from Krylon's “Indigenous” palette, like Citrus Green, which is available in the Indoor/Outdoor spray paint line. Not only will it dry to the touch in 10 minutes or less, but it will also deliver an exceptionally durable and smooth finish, leaving your painted items looking perfect.

As a focal point in living rooms, the mantel is an ideal location to display your new beautiful fall creations. Adding lighted elements, like lanterns or candles, can also bring additional warmth to the room. Don't have a mantel? Don't worry - instead, your dining table can be made over to display your seasonal decor pieces. To protect the top from any scratches or stains, place a runner underneath your new tablescape. Burlap is a perfect choice for this time of year, helping you bring the look and feel of fall right into your dining room.

Welcome your guests
Once your indoors are looking grand, focus on outdoor elements, such as the front porch, to create a welcoming feel for trick-or-treaters or holiday guests. Easily transform boring, clay pots with a few coats of spray paint; try one of the season's richest colors, like Hunter Green, for a woodsy feel. Once dry, add mums in gold or purple and place them on your porch. Continue your makeover with a new door mat and wreath on your front door. Not only will you increase your home's curb appeal, you'll also show guests that they're welcome in your home.
Don't wait until December to begin decorating for the season. Fall is the perfect time to make an impact and showcase your design style and vibrant new seasonal colors throughout any area of the house.

This is more than just a delicious romance cookbook! It’s the best of the best of all top romance authors sharing romantic tips, gifts, and ideas!

Gina Cianfarani - L’eco Del Lazio Chin Radio FM, Canada
No matter how many interviews you might read with favorite romance authors, how often do those interview questions get personal? As is, what do the authors find romantic? Pick up a copy of Tammie Clarke Gibbs’ book “Recipes for Romance,” and you’ll find out. She’s gathered favorite recipes form popular romance authors, added their standard bio information, and then asked them some questions about what they find romantic. I wonder why no one thought of this idea before? Most romance authors are not only writers, but wives and mothers, so naturally we collect and create recipes. I’m dying to try some of the recipes in this book, like “Dixie’s Decadent Dessert” 00 a chocolatey pie that sounds divine – and “Original Sin” – another pie that makes my mouth water just reading the recipe. Nearly 70 authors have contributed their recipes and romantic ideas to this project. I’m giving this one four of Cupid’s five arrows. It’s full of great ideas, and even has places for you to add your own romantic recipes. Enjoy.

Elizabeth Darrack - Bella Online Romance Channel

This is such a great book, I’m surprised no one thought of it sooner! First, Recipes for Romance is a recipe book-filled with the kinds of decadent delights that make me wonder why I ever thought of dieting. From Jand Archer’s Texas Pralines to Pamela Morsi’s Mudd Tart, there’s a romantic recipe in here for everyone.

If it were just a cookbook, however, I wouldn’t be raving about it. Recipes for Romance also carries snippets of interviews with the authors, asking questions such as what their favorite romantic movie is, what’s their favorite inexpensive way to be romantic, etc. In the back is a how-to for romance, complete with idyllic weekend ideas and tips for surprising that someone throughout the day. Since most of these women are also moms, considerations have been made for working around kids and soccer practice.

Recipes for Romance is an all-around great cookbook, both for edible and not-so-edible romantic moments...

Are you satisfied or have you given up?

Whatever happened to the concept of encouragement?  One of the things that really annoys me about the current political/social climate is the fact that it's obvious that so many of our young people are being raised to believe that they should strive for mediocre, and that they should get something for "just showing up."  I realize that tee-ball and other activities have been instrumental in this attitude, and I know that they were established with all good intentions, but now I wonder if they haven't been a disservice to our youth.
When I was younger, it was normal to hear that if I worked hard I could achieve something. Today, some would have you think that either the work part isn't necessary OR that even if you do work hard you'll never get anywhere so why even try.  I'm baffled and saddened that so many are being misled into believing that we are no longer a country where hard work and a dream no matter what your color or ethnicity is can result in a better way of life.  Why aren't we investing in more programs that put an emphasis in self-motivation and self-confidence so that those who struggles to find their way are encouraged to keep trying and believe in themselves?

I started my first business three weeks after high school graduation with a helium tank, a bag or two of balloons and some inflatables.  Probably the most prized possession of all was the Raggedy Ann Costume that I gained along with the package.  I never doubted at age 18 that I could do it and be successful.  Did I know how to run a business?  NO! But, I knew how to read and find the library! What I didn't know how to do I read and learned.  I applied myself.  Within a short period of time I'd moved the little business from my Mom and Dad's livingroom to a shop in Downtown Vidalia.

When I didn't have customers I went out and got some. I walked the streets dressed in costume with a handful of balloons more days than I'll admit.  But, between the bright red wig of Raggedy Ann and my determination I turned a few balloons and a costume into a business that served the community for over eight years.

Did I go out of business? No...my business morphed into something else.  I took all the knowledge I'd learned and wrote three or four "How to" Balloon books that have made me money for more than 20 years now...how's that for stretching something out?

I never got rich selling balloons in Downtown Vidalia, but what I did was learn valuable skills and even a few funny things along the way.  For instance, when you're really young most insurance companies really don't want to insure your business vehicle (especially when it's a black conversion van with wild colored flames down the side).  In addition, you should never allow your parents anywhere close to your business when sales people call, or you will get ignored.  Lastly, it's almost impossible to hire help for the holidays because you train them all year, and they quit just before the holiday, and you end up doing it all yourself anyway.
.

Since that time just three weeks after graduation my life has been full of ups and downs and adventures that you cannot even imagine.  I laugh and say I have multiple career disorder, but the reality is I've had vision and the Lord has blessed me with the opportunity and talent to follow those visions and succeed with them.  I can honestly say that I may not have made a ton of money in some of my businesses, but I can also say that I don't consider any of those experiences unsuccessful.

Believe in yourself, encourage others and most of all instill in your children a desire to reach for their dreams....

Infant to senior: How identity theft is affecting every generation

(ARA) - An infant's Social Security number is used in a credit card application. A 10-year-old's identification information is used to apply for a car loan. Grandpa gets an email claiming that he won the lottery and needs to provide information to collect the winnings. Today, identity theft can occur to anyone, not just middle-aged adults. Savvy thieves are targeting every generation, from child to adult to senior. It's important to stay alert so every member of your family is better protected.

Child ID theft
Think you don't have to worry about identity theft for your kids? The fact is more than 19,000 cases of child identity theft were reported in 2011, up from about 6,000 in 2003, according to the Federal Trade Commission. How does this occur to children, who typically don't even have a bank account? Every day many parents send their children to school and child care with personal information in their backpacks. Backpacks are typically hung out of sight for hours or information can end up in desks for days, providing ample opportunity for identity thieves.

How can you tell if your child's ID has been stolen? If your child begins to receive suspicious mail, like pre-approved credit cards and other financial offers normally sent to adults, his identity might have been compromised. Also, a child should never have a credit history until they are older and actually have financial accounts. If you suspect that identity thieves may have targeted your child, complete a secure Child Identity Theft Inquiry Form at TransUnion.com. TransUnion will investigate the existence of a potential credit file in your child's name, and after the search is complete, respond to you at the email address you provide. If a file is located in your child's name, additional information will be asked for in order to proceed with steps to protect your child from any impact associated with this fraudulent activity.

The most important thing you can do to avoid child identity theft is to be mindful of the personal information your children are carrying. Make sure their information is kept in a safe spot and not just tossed in the bottom of a school bag. Even better, seal any documents that contain your child's personal information in an envelope addressed to the school. Also, explain to your kids that they shouldn't share personal information with strangers in-person or online.

Adult ID theft
Unfortunately, as many as 9 million Americans have their identities stolen each year, according to the FTC. Innovative thieves can get your information in many ways - from online hacking to dumpster diving.

To avoid ID theft, always shred personal documents, only use secure sites when shopping online, and give out your driver license number and other identification only when absolutely necessary. It's also wise to pick up your mail from your box every day and consider depositing outbound mail in a mailbox at the post office.

Awareness is your best weapon against identity thieves, so subscribing to a monitoring service like TransUnion Total gives you peace of mind. The service helps you minimize your exposure to identity theft by proactively monitoring the sites where posting personal information may occur. The service also includes monitoring for changes in your credit, new addresses registered with the postal service, court records and non-credit loans not reported to the credit bureaus. If ID theft does happen, you won't be alone. TransUnion will help you restore your good name and also help you cancel stolen items from your wallet and obtain new ones.

Senior ID theft
Seniors are frequently targeted by online phishing scams. If you're a senior, or you are an adult child who cares for an elderly parent, it's important to always guard personal information closely.
Seniors are often targeted on the phone with offers of free samples or lottery winnings - the caller simply needs some personal information to transfer the money or send the item. Another popular scheme is someone posing as a relative who is stuck and needs money in order to get home. Every senior should be highly skeptical when asked for bank accounts or Social Security numbers on the phone or Internet.

Another issue - that is an easy fix - is many seniors carry their personal information with them at all times - including their Social Security card, Medicare card, check book, etc. It's wise to only carry what is needed when leaving the house.

Identity theft affects all generations. By knowing the different considerations for the various ages of your family's members, you'll help keep everyone safe today and in the future.

Special Youth Opportunity During Primitive Weapons Season

SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga.

Being young has its advantages! During the statewide primitive weapons deer season, October 13-19, 2012, children under 16 years of age may hunt deer with any legal deer firearm. Additionally, youth under 16 years of age may hunt deer with any legal deer firearm during any wildlife management area primitive weapons hunts.
“This special firearms opportunity is a fantastic time to get a kid involved in hunting,” said John W. Bowers, assistant chief of Game Management. “It is one of many unique opportunities we promote to encourage the next generation to experience the hunting tradition and learn much about themselves.”
Hunters under age 16 do not need a hunting license. However, a deer harvest record is required. A deer harvest record is free and can be found at www.georgiawildlife.com/licenses-permits-passes. Adults accompanying youth must have all appropriate licenses and use seasonally appropriate hunting equipment.
For more information, visit www.gohuntgeorgia.com/hunting/regulations and view the online copy of the 2012-2013 Hunting Regulations guidebook.
